Human Presence anti-spam security
Anyone with a wordpress site is very much aware of spam comments. Most of us use some type of captcha security test in order to weed out malicious comments and spam from bots. This type of challenge–response test works quite well, but is of course an obstacle for a reader who wishes to leave a comment or start a conversation.
Human Presence must have seen a gap in the market here and decided to develop a better solution. The developers looked closely at what Google does with the Recaptcha technology, and what Aksimet was doing for WordPress. By using machine learning and behavioral analysis, they developed a new technology that does not need any effort from your wordpress website visitors. The Human presence anti-spam technology works invisibly in the background, without a challange response test.
I should also mention that this technology also works on forms. More about that later.
Human Presence anti-spam technology
Human Presence comes in the form of a plug-in that's available in the official wordpress repository. You simply install it, add your Human Presence licence code and you're ready to roll.
The code behind it is of course not disclosed but this is what the founders are willing to tell us. But as with all machine learning systems, it was probably given thousands of examples of human website interactions as well as spambot website visits. This data can probably be gathered in the same way that website heatmap and visitor tracking systems work. Over time, the ghost in the machine can learn what is a real human interaction and what is not.
When the dealify lifetime deal was launched, it incuded only 10,000 pageviews. I compained and they upped in to 500,000 now. Very generous, but of course this is also beneficial to them because they need more data to feed the machine so it can improve. But definetely a good reason to do a lifetime deal.
Human presence told me they have been in business for about 4 years and are just getting into the WordPress market. The started out in the Shopify App Store and are expanding to other channels now.

Human Presence anti-spam in use
I can tell you about my first few days using the Human Presence anti-spam plugin for wordpress. As well as my thoughts on the lifetime deal.
Dealify is trying to make a name for itself in the lifetime deal world, and they do have some strong deals available at the moment. I reviewed Hyper Host recently and I'm also temted by BlockSurvey.
As usual, my purchase went through easily and I received my Human Presence lifetime deal code in the mail. They have a special page setup for the ltd, so signup and redemption went pretty fast. In my acount, I quicly found my premium licence.
As you can see, it's a licence for only 1 wordpress site, but now with 500,000 pageviews.
I switched over to the subscription area, and there I see the licence is valid for 1 year, renewing automatically. I would guess this is has to do with their billing system, but I'll have to clarify that.
So you simply download the lightweight wordpress plugin, add the licence and you're all set. The wordpress plugin itself is pretty basic, revealing only human, suspicious and total comments. I would like to see a way to at least see and review the human interactions.
The good thing however is that the system seems to also check older comments. Good feature to sell as an agency.
The plugin settings page is also basic. You can turn the auto comment and form checking on, and adjust the minimal confidence threshold.
I would guess that this threshold can be adjusted if you find that comments are not comming through. I'll update this post in a few days and see if this is a problem.
Human Presence Form support
Currently, Human Presence supports Woo commerce reviews, Contact Form 7, Gravity Formq, Formidable forms and Ninja Forms. They plan to continously add support from other form builders. They are also considering checkout protection for Woo Commerce.
Human Pressence seems to be working well on my wordpress site. The only negative I see is that the lifetime deal can only be used on one site, but it' s stackable. And at $49, the price is also very reasonable.
Besides this, I'm not sure what the demand is for a plugin like this. They are aiming for a premium market, where a business can see the value in lowering the commenting threshold. And are willing to pay for that priveledge. A yearly subscription is $99 by the way. I do see the benefit for my websites, especially at this price.
